No One Said It Would Be Easy

Why is it that we, as Christians, fall into the trap of thinking that God’s Will for our life should be handed to us on a silver platter? Let’s be honest for a moment. Have you ever said, “Well, that can’t be God’s plan for my life, look how much work it’s going to take! If it was God’s plan it would be easy!”

Oh how I wish this was true, but Numbers 33 proves it’s not. The Israelites are standing at the edge of the promised land for the second time (because the first time they chose to live in fear instead of faith) and here’s what God says.

“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan, then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you and destroy all their figured stones and destroy all their metal images and demolish all their high places. And you shall take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given the land to you to possess it.” Numbers 33:51-53

Did you catch that? God said that before they could settle in the land He had promised, they would be going to war. Doesn’t sound so easy, does it? Because even though they knew they would experience victory, they still had to go through the preparation and pain of the battles.

How many of God’s mountain tops have we missed because we were afraid to battle through the valley?

Our family is in its own valley right now as we transition to a new home, a journey that has been filled with trials and victories alike. Many times I have been ready to throw in the towel and call it quits, but each time I continue to persevere, God comes through in a new and mighty way!

So don’t be afraid if the road is filled with bumps and ruts, God never promised that following his will would be easy, in fact he proved early on in his word that it may be quite hard!

Keep pushing through the valley, the mountain top is not all that far away!
